Middle Time Saver Tips
The transition to middle school can add minutes and frustration to a student's day. Here's few time saver tips that will lead to a more enjoyable school day.
Minimize locker trips. Visit your locker only when it’s conveniently located on the path to a class. Making multiple locker stops eats up time and increases the chances of arriving late to class. Take books for two or three classes especially when your classes are close together. Rushing back and forth to a locker adds extra stress to an already busy day as well as reducing the amount of time you have to talk with friends in between classes.
Plan ahead. Leave school with the supplies you will need to for first period the next day. Bring your first period books home with you at night. The morning hours can be unpredictable. Showing up late to first period is a tough way to start the day.
Avoid restroom repeats. Using the restroom and visiting your locker in the same passing period may not be realistic. Although at times the need to visit both spots can’t be avoided, try to save your restroom trips for longer breaks (snack break, lunch and before P.E.).
Changing for P.E. takes time. The first few weeks of school can be challenging, especially with the added pressure of changing for P.E. Many P.E. teachers will expect students to be dressed and ready for class on time so make an extra effort to get to the locker room as quickly as possible. If changing becomes too time consuming, consider wearing your P.E. shirt or shorts underneath your regular clothes. Unless P.E. is the last class of the day, you will need to change back into your regulars close and arrive on time to your next class.
